Note: Compressed tar(1) files have names ending with the .tzr suffix and gzip compressed tar files have names ending with the suffix .tgz or .tar.gz. Three methods exist for extraction.

1. If your tar(1) version supports the z option flag you can use:

- tar  xvzf  file.suffix

2. If you have a zcat(1) utility you can use:

- zcat  file.suffix  |  tar  xvf  -

3. If this does not work (.tzr archives only), do the following:

- mv  file.tzr  file.tar.Z
- uncompress  file.tar
- tar  xvf  file.tar
