Before You Write


Before you contact technical support, please contact your software vendor. He speaks your language and he knows the configuration details of your installation. This makes him the guy you want to speak with. 

When contacting technical support, please provide the following information:
 
1. Product, serial number and product version. On Unix based systems you can find this information by execute any of the provided programs with the -v option, e.g. css -v. On Windows systems click on the program's Help > About menu.

2.

Operating system version (e.g.: Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0, SCO Open Desktop, SuSe Linux 6.4).

3.

If you encounter a problem, the steps or events immediately preceding it.

4.

All your software configuration files (e.g. css.devices, css.forms, css.default).

5.

System resource information (RAM, free space on hard drive, display settings if known).

6.

Exact error message

Technical Support can assist you efficiently only, if you take the time to collect as much information as possible.
